What does the Foundation "actually" do?
This is a question we’re asked often, and we understand the curiosity behind it. We’ve taken time to carefully outline the details on this page so everything is clear and transparent.
When you have a moment, please scroll down and review the information provided — it should answer your questions fully.
You don't seem to post regularly on social media?
We understand that people lead busy lives, we are no exception. Not everyone has the time to follow every update in detail. In today’s environment, where communication often revolves around immediate visibility and social media activity, it can sometimes create the impression that progress only exists when it is publicly displayed.
I would like to respectfully clarify that our impact and forward movement are not solely measured by what appears online. Much of the meaningful work we do happens behind the scenes — in conversations, planning sessions, community engagement, and real-world action. Just because something is not posted publicly does not mean we are standing still.
Progress does not always require an audience. It requires commitment — and that commitment remains steady.
Sounds like over-promising, and under-delivering, no?
I understand how it may appear that we are over-promising and under-delivering. The reality is that growth has presented both opportunity and complexity. Expanding quickly can be a positive challenge, but it must be managed responsibly.
While I had hoped to see broader impact by this stage, sustainable progress requires discipline. I am balancing leadership of this organization with family responsibilities and long-term strategic development. Rather than pursue rapid visibility at the risk of instability, I have chosen a measured approach focused on longevity and meaningful results.
We have three major nationwide peer-to-peer events scheduled this year. In addition, we are pursuing continued outreach efforts — including presence at VA facilities and hospitals (where permitted), increased public engagement, networking, and expanded availability to those in need.
There are additional growth strategies under evaluation, including localized outreach initiatives within Texas. Expansion takes time, particularly for a small nonprofit operating without investors and funded primarily through donations and personal contribution.
This is not hesitation — it is responsible leadership. I remain fully committed to the mission. Growth may be steady rather than rapid, but it will be sustainable.
How can I donate to support?
We offer a donation page where supporters can give in any amount, beginning at $5.
Your support helps cover essential operating expenses, fund mission-driven programs, and create real opportunities to impact the lives of veterans through the Battlehart Foundation’s everyday work.
No contribution is too small — each one helps move the mission forward.
-
The Battlehart Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to tackling PTSD through outdoor activities, cognitive defragmentation using peer-to-peer support, and legislative accountability. We raise awareness and drive change through our approach, which consists of three key steps:
-
- First, we empower individuals to discover freedom and self-awareness in nature.
- Second, we facilitate a Peer-to-Peer process to reshape perspectives on trauma management.
- Finally, we advocate for legislative changes to hold organizations and government entities accountable for supporting veterans in need.
-
This all culminates with a full-circle approach that provides a sense of Strength, Purpose, and Accountability.
